INFINITUM
This piece frames the entrance to the Sculpture Trail, its form leads the entrant into the native bush that forms the western node of our Conservation Estate, an area that stretches across the diagonal of this 200 ha property. The fusion of nature’s creativity with that of our contributing artists has been an objective of this project, the contrast and the symbiosis both.
Infinitum denotes a long journey with the end barely in sight, yet as it’s approached the surprise is the path to follow is not what it appeared to be when the sculpture is entered. As with several of the works along our trail, the visitor’s experience is one of passing through the work, rather than just observing from afar. This immersion leads the observer feel the artist’s challenge in creating a piece that delivers different messaged depending upon the observer’s vantage point.
This work comprises X steel arches, offset to accentuate the distance of the journey, arches shrinking in size and moving closer together as the journey through the structure progresses
